The Catholic Diocese of Lismore is situated on the north coast of NSW and extends from Tweed Heads to Laurieton and west to the foothills of the Great Divide. Lismore is a major regional centre (pop. over 42,000) just 2.5 hours drive south of Brisbane and 860km north of Sydney. The Diocese comprises 28 parishes, with 36 primary and 12 secondary schools, nearly 17,000 students and over 1,600 staff.
Reporting to an Assistant Director and leading a small team, this newly created position has been established to lead and effectively deliver human resource management services to support the 48 parish schools operated by the Catholic Education Office.
The role comprises a mix of strategic, operational and project-based activities and has been created during a period of growth and change. While the role is new, the successful applicant will benefit from joining a professional, established team as well as being part of a wider network of HR practitioners within Catholic education.
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
• Senior level HR experience, with responsibility for an organisation’s
human resource and employment relations functions;
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of proactively building strong relationships;
• Commitment to the teachings and practice of the Catholic faith;
• The initiative and capacity to drive organisational change;
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications.
The initial appointment will be for five years. It is anticipated the new appointee will commence in this role mid-January 2010, or earlier by negotiation. An attractive remuneration package, including motor vehicle, will be offered to the successful applicant and salary packaging is available,
