The Catholic Education Office, Sydney is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of the 147 primary and secondary systemic schools which educate about 64,000 students in the Archdiocese of Sydney. The CEO’s responsibilities include supporting more than 8,000 staff (permanent, temporary and casual) employed in Archdiocesan schools.
This senior role, as one of four reports to the Director of Financial Services, has become available due to an internal promotion. Combining strategic and operational responsibility, the key focus of the role is to provide management and leadership for the core functions of the Financial Services Team which include:
• Liaising with other Heads of Unit to ensure appropriate financial accountability;
• School census, surveys, data collection and statistical returns;
• Demographic and planning data;
• Involvement in planning and negotiations for capital works;
• Membership of a number of significant committees.
Applicants with a finance & accounting background (CPA, CA, NIA highly regarded) are encouraged to apply as are senior managers from other disciplines who have the capacity and desire to operate within a role that combines stakeholder negotiation and liaison with data management and analysis.
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
• commitment to the teachings and practice of the Catholic faith;
• senior management level experience;
• strong analytical skills;
• highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of proactively building strong relationships;
• appropriate tertiary qualifications.
